Membership

Membership in the Sons of Confederate Veterans is open to all male descendants of any veteran who served honorably in the Confederate armed forces. Membership can be obtained through either lineal or collateral family lines and kinship to a veteran must be documented genealogically. The minimum age for membership is 12.

Applicants should submit an application form, along with a detailed genealogy describing your relationship to the veteran, and proof of his service.

Regular Membership - Documented proof of relationship to a Confederate Soldier, Sailor, Marine (with an honorable service record) or Confederate Government Official. The member would have full membership rights; voting, holding office, purchasing logo items and a subscription to Confederate Veteran Magazine. Dues are paid yearly to IHQ, Division and Camp (August 1 - July 31). Total of all dues is $45.00

Life Membership - With the same proof of relationship as a regular membership, a life membership is a paid in full membership. Members will have all the rights as mentioned above in the regular membership. Cost of a life membership is based on age at the time of application. Dues are still paid yearly to the Division and Camp (August 1 - July 31). Total of all dues is $15.00

Associate Membership - Does not have to have proof of relationship as listed above. This membership is controlled by the camp commander. Associate members may vote on camp matters and hold committee positions. Associate members can not vote on officers or hold office positions in the Camp or Division. Associate members can not purchase logo items and must pay to receive the Confederate Veteran Magazine. Dues are paid yearly (August 1 - July 31). Total of all dues is $10.00

Cadet Membership - With the same proof of relationship as a regular membership, this membership is controlled by the camp. Eligibility is from birth to age 12. Cadets will not hold any offices or voting rights. Cadets will not receive the Confederate Veteran Magazine unless paid for. Cadets will receive a certificate of membership. Dues are paid yearly (August 1 - July 31). Total of all dues is $10.00

Attention!!

Regular Membership dues will increase by $10.00 bringing the total to $45.00 for the yearly dues. Life Membership will not change from the $15.00 yearly dues, but the cost for the Membership if you're under the age of 60 will increase to $750.00. Associate & Cadet Memberships will not change from $10.00 yearly dues. All increases will be effective as of August 1, 2008
